BETWEEN A BREATH THE WHOLE UNIVERSE CHANGING IN ONE SELF

The Whole era of human experience and memories constitute in every new born life. And in every death proceeds its lived energy to as its lived being's past, that means it is the present of every living thing. In that case every new born or newly embodied conscious is older than its memory. That means our body our skin our bones every cell is older than our living self. And When body moves, we have the extra ordinary capability to transcend beyond time, to go back to our memories, the deeper you go the deeper things you find about yourself and the universe with in you. Its powerful to regenerate this human value.
Meeting Honza Svasek in his Free Butoh School personally for me to convince myself that there are leads on what I am saying and what i wanted to investigate.
For me Art is a conscious knowledge. Everything exists in universe; Every living and non-living existence has its own conscious, everything formulated and function with in an accumulated knowledge by its own or by an external force. And Honza says "Glass Ball Gaze" to see your surroundings, when you move establish the energy flow between all the other living visible, invisible existence around you. Moving body makes invisible visible. It was quite liberating his vision and the place he founded.
He always reminds me to Listen my body while i am practicing, identifying how body affected and wanted to react will helps to go more deeper during the actual performance, and also to find patterns in movement for overcoming the habits.
I was in resident in Butoh school in November for two weeks and another one week in March. Kind of experiencing the village and the jungle in start of winter and in spring. Our winter mornings usually started with campfire and we were warming up with discussing techniques of Tatsumi Hijikata, Micheal Chekov, and his teacher Lee Rhizome (Dharamshala Butoh school); someone who really pushed the boundaries of Honza as an Butoh Artist.
.…Butoh is an avant-garde art form born in Japan in the 1950’s. Butoh developed at the height of the Japanese Counter Culture Movement and was influenced by surrealism, neo dada, mime techniques, ballet etc. And Developed by Tatsumi Hijikata and Ohno Kazuo, In collaboration with other artists such as Yoshito Ohno, Akira kasai and others. Butoh split into two forms of dance, One choreographed, the other complete improvised. Butoh was born at a tumultuous time in Japan’s history. Today, there are numerous Butoh expressions, and the art form ranges from a minimalist expression, to the grotesque and theatrical. Although Butoh is commonly known for its controversial topics the “choreographed method” devised by Tatsumi Hijikata represents a revolution in the world of dance. Butoh represents a shift from the conscious to the subconscious.
we worked on so many exercises from Classical, Modern, Devised training manuals. Mainly focused working with Free Resonance, Glass ball gaze, Free moving, understanding gravity, Instinct compositions, Energy, working on Costumes and Accessories. On every Friday's we considered as Performance Day. This specific day each of us individually and in group developed sketches for the presentation. There were no prejudices in being available to each other. we acknowledged, accepted and encouraged throughout all the sessions.
"Our Body. its self is a world and your cells has enormous of different body from the past.
There are two different worlds, one is the world everybody perceive. And the other world where we dream, hallucinate, imagine, or in altered state.
When we move body has the power to reshape to different realm of consciousness, kind of experience to travel in time and space. Body evokes memories" Honza reminds...
Free Butoh School is a travelling Butoh school, in India currently situated in Iruway Farm, a small village in Karnataka. Resident in school means you are immersing to the nature and the village. And farm operates a Craft space to make Eco friendly products. And have its own radio station called Namma Radio which broadcast in the entire village. people whoever interested to stay in the farm able to engage in their community outreach programs (stay will be chargeable).
I say Free School stance for Freedom School; the residents have the opportunity to immerse in quiet, calm, peaceful geography of the village for learn, share, remix and for rejuvenation. Butoh school encourage contributions from the residents for the basic living expenses.

Electricity and mobile networks are very limited in the area, the community kitchen and honza's hut has the Solar panel for basic purpose.

The Sunday's are special day for a morning hike to another village and a delicious breakfast from the village restaurant. Iruway farm has three neighboring villages and this one is in the top of the mountain. from the top it's a bliss to see the valley... its a real test to climb the mountain and for sure it helps to cleanse a lot of bad energy...
Honza is also a Software engineer his newly developed Android Application for Butoh research is astonishing. The App currently in internal test and planning to release for public very soon. The application currently known as Body Works. will help you to explore the effects of words on the body which create suggestions based on the setting of the sliders. Primarily what Hijikata did different from Antonin Artaud (the French dramatist well known for his Theatre of Cruelty) he tied the body with words.

Free Butoh School in Iruway Farm closed till next winter. Before he leaves to Holand he did a demonstration for public at Iruway farm on the open day of Folk Immersive with Jogathis coordinated by Iruway Farm, Urban Folk Project and Janastu.

I had wonderful overwhelming time with this wonderful wise man... Can't wait him to comeback. School need more people next year, Honza is planning to form a nomad Butoh group to perform near villages and towns.

For me formlessness precedes every form and after every form. Seeing it as a autonomous continuum, i practice not to see anything random, everything relate and communicate. Its as a form to work.
